About the Speyburn Distillery
The Speyburn Distillery was founded in 1897 by John Hopkins, but sold 19 years later to The Distillers Company Limited. The Distillery would be closed during World War II in 1939, but would be reopened in 1947. The distillery continued growth and production and was sold to their current owners in 1992- Inver House Distillers. To this day, Speyburn remains the only distillery to draw its water from the major tributary of the River Spey.
Whisky Reviews:
Tobin’s Review 3 out of 5
Speyburn 10 Year Old Scotch has a light gold hue. I pick up aromas that are sweet, with a hint of wood. Upon my first sip it’s smooth with flavors of toffee, slightly sweet with a hint of oak which turns into a light coffeelike flavor. This Scotch is very light, it’s almost like a sweet caramel coffee that has been mellowed by the oak of the barrels.
