Aerstone Sea Cask 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Aerstone Sea Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is aged in the intense environs of the Ayrshire coast in Scotland for 10-years. Since some of the warehouses sit by the sea, this impacts the maturation process and delivers a smooth whisky with a hint of sea salt.
Nose– Light and floral with a subtle nutty character. Delicate oak, malted biscuits and creamy vanilla background.
Taste– Lightly-toasted almonds, sweet cotton candy and gentle vanilla oak, balanced with a touch of tannins.
Finish– Lingering oak with delicate sweetness.
About William Grant & Sons
William Grant & Sons is an independent, family-owned Scottish company that distills Scotch whisky and other premium spirits. It was established in 1887 by William Grant, himself, and was geared towards a simple goal of “making the best dram in the valley.” This legacy still remains true until today and has been an inspiration for the company in all of its ventures.
The founder was born in Dufftown in 1839. He started working at a young age as a bookkeeper at Mortlach Distillery. From there, he began his dreams of becoming a distillery owner. He was very determined and worked hard until he was able to achieve his dream by opening his family’s own distillery at Glenfiddich. He and his nine children helped him run the first spirit from the still on Christmas Day in 1887. In 1892, he bought the Balvenie Distillery and started blending the whiskies of the two distilleries together. This created the world-famous Grant’s blended whisky.
William Grant started expanding internationally and began to thrive in 30 countries; however, the company was forced to shut down in 1917 due to war and Prohibition internationally. The company was able to reopen in 1919 and was passed down to his children and its four succeeding generations.
Tobin’s Review 3 out of 5
Aerstone Sea Cask 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a light caramel amber hue. The nose has a strong sweet aroma and it is soft and smooth on the tongue. It has a light caramel rich mouth with a very light sweet smoke. This is a good Scotch for the price.
