Grand Marnier
In 1827, Jean Baptiste Lapostolle built what would become the Grand Marnier Distillery in Neauphle-le-Château, a small city outside of Paris. Jean’s granddaughter married Louis-Alexandre Mariner in 1876. In 1880, Louis began to combine refined French Cognac with a rare variety of bitter orange from the Caribbean, which would become the beginning of Grand Marnier.
Grand Mariner immediately gained in popularity and was a must-have liqueur at high-end parties and the rest is history! In 2016 the Campari Group acquired Grand Marnier and it continues to be owned by Campari to this day.
